Air Cast for tennis elbow

What is tennis elbow?

Tennis elbow is a form of arthritis caused by overuse of arm and forearm muscles. This is the common condition noticed in tennis players, which is why the term ‘tennis’ is used to describe this form of pain. However, tennis elbow is not restricted to tennis players alone because, any person involving repetitive wrist movements or lifting of the elbow becomes vulnerable to tennis elbow.  In tennis elbow the tendon fibers attached on the bony prominence starts degenerating. It involves the area where the muscles and tendons of the forearm connected to the outside bony area which is known as ‘epicondyle of the elbow’. This is mainly called as the lateral epicondylitis by the physicians. In another form of arthritis the process is occurring on the inside elbow part which is referred to as medical epicondylitis.

Symptoms of Tennis Elbow

Following are some of the significant symptoms in tennis elbow:

(1)The pain occurring around the outside of the elbow area slowly increases. However this pain may erupt suddenly.

(2) The intensity of pain becomes worse when shaking hands or squeezing objects

(3) The pain becomes extremely worse and unbearable when moving the wrist with force like lifting, using tools and instruments or handling simplest of daily items, like using toothbrush, a knife or a fork.

The timely treatment in tennis elbow is very important, which can become chronic and difficult to get relief from once it becomes acute.

Air cast for Tennis Elbow

There are several treatments available for tennis elbow. Most of the treatments start off on a small note and work up to extensive ones. Non-surgical treatment in many tennis elbow cases has proved successful. In this form of treatment, the small air cell is used for focusing more pressure on the involved muscle, applying less pressure around the arm. The tennis elbow support can be used throughout the process, which is firm and comfortable. For providing air-cast pressure on the paining muscle, comfortable inelastic band with free size is effective. This is referred to as Aircast Tennis Elbow Strap. This provides maximum protection and gives firm pressure where it counts for tennis elbow. This also gives relief in the tennis elbow relating to finger and wrist pain.
