Air Cast Tennis Elbow Strap
Mechanism
The Air Cast Tennis Elbow Strap is also called as the Pneumatic Armband. It consists of a small aircell. This concentrates more pressure on the concerned muscle and less on the remaining area. The pressure of the aircell is 50% more than average on the remaining circumference of the band. This focusing of pressure indicates that more pressure is applied at the place where it is required. In case of the muscles not affected by the tennis elbow, the blood flow is constricted to a lesser amount. The resultant pressure is concentrated to a particular tendon region by the air cell. The air cell is padded for increasing the effective pressure. This pressure reduces the circumference of the affected tendon. This in turn, decreases the force that is transmitted through the tendon. Due to this off-loading, the strain on the tendon is decreased. In turn, the symptoms of Tennis Elbow are alleviated. The strap concentrates the compression where it is needed. There is a maximum support level. It can be used on the right or left elbow. It provides a lightweight, firm and comfortable support for use throughout the day.
Construction
The Air Cast Tennis Elbow Strap is constructed of nylon and polyurethane foam. The aircell is an inflated vinyl air cell. It does not contain latex. As the inelastic band is foam-lined, it is very comfortable. The air cell is held in place by a comfortable foam strap. It is positioned in such a way that it is against the tendons that produce bending as well as extension movements of the wrist joint. A single size can fit forearms having circumference of 10 inches to 14 inches. It can be hand washed in cool and soapy water and dried in air. While using it, initially the strap must be wrapped around the arm. The Aircast Logo must be facing outwards. The air cell has to be centered above or below the forearm. Then the strap has to be adjusted for a snug fit.
Use
This Strap is useful not only for Tennis Elbow but also for Tendonitis. Additionally, there is relief for finger and wrist pain as well as the carpal tunnel syndrome. It is used for the treatment of medial as well as lateral epicondylitis. As per clinical study, the strap is useful for 86% of the patients.
